Privacy.

Short version: we don't want your data, so we don't take it. We don't run analytics, no third-party SDKs, no ads, no tracking.

The short version

  • Your videos stay in your photo library. CapQuick reads them with your permission and writes captioned exports back.
  • We don't run analytics, no third-party SDKs, no ads, no tracking.
  • This website doesn't set tracking cookies and doesn't run analytics scripts.
  • If you contact us through the form on our support page, we'll have your email address until you ask us to delete it.

Audio Processing

CapQuick uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to generate captions from your video's audio. The audio never leaves your device, never reaches our servers (we have no servers), and is not transmitted to Apple's cloud or any third party. All transcription runs locally using the speech model already on your iPhone.

Video

CapQuick records video using your iPhone's camera or imports clips you pick from your photo library. You grant camera and photo permissions through iOS. Captioned exports are written back to your photo library when you save or share them.

Face Data

CapQuick uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect the bounding box of the largest face in a single still frame from videos you import or record. This is used only to position the thumbnail crop on your project library card so that faces are not cut off. The detection runs entirely on your device using Apple's bundled face-detection model. CapQuick does not capture, store, transmit, or share face geometry, facial landmarks, expressions, biometric templates, identity, or any face data. The bounding box is computed in memory and discarded immediately after the thumbnail is generated. CapQuick does not perform facial recognition and cannot identify individuals.

What we collect on the app

Nothing. CapQuick has no analytics, no third-party SDKs, no ads, and no in-app tracking. We don't know how often you use the app, which features you tap, or whether you finished a recording.

Apple may collect aggregated, anonymized analytics about your iPhone usage if you've opted into sharing developer analytics in iOS Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements). That data is Apple's, not ours. We may see anonymized crash diagnostics in App Store Connect, but only if you've opted in to share them. We never see who you are.

App Store purchases

If you upgrade to Pro, the purchase happens through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the transaction and shares with us only what's needed to confirm you've bought it (a receipt). We don't see your payment details, billing address, or Apple ID.

Refunds are handled by Apple. See Apple billing support.

This website

capquick.app is a static website. It doesn't set tracking cookies. It doesn't run analytics scripts.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server access logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not joined with any other data we hold and are rotated regularly by the host.

Fonts (Geist, Inter, JetBrains Mono) are self-hosted on our domain. No font request leaks your IP address to anyone other than our hosting provider.

Contact form and support

The contact form on our support page is hosted on Formspree, a third-party form service. When you submit a message, Formspree receives your name, email address, subject, and message and forwards them to our Gmail inbox. Formspree uses that data solely to deliver your message and applies its own spam filtering; they don't sell it or use it for marketing. See Formspree's privacy policy for details on their handling.

Once a message lands in our Gmail, we keep that thread until you ask us to delete it. We won't add you to any mailing list. We don't send marketing email.

Children

CapQuick is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used CapQuick, contact us and we'll help.

International users

CapQuick is built and operated from the United States. If you use the app or website from outside the US, the limited data described above (server logs, support emails) may be processed in the US.

Your rights

We don't run user accounts, so there's little for us to access, correct, or delete. The exceptions are:

  • Message threads in Gmail (started from the contact form): ask us to delete them and we will.
  • Server access logs: rotated by the host on a short cycle.
  • App Store purchase receipt: Apple handles this. Contact Apple to manage purchase data.

If you're in California, the EU, or the UK and want to exercise privacy rights under your local law, contact us through the form on our support page. We'll help you.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be called out on the homepage before they take effect.
